A recent study has found that being brought up in a greener environment - living near parks, sports fields and community gardens raises children’s IQs.
“A higher percentage of residential green space is associated with higher intelligence and lower behavioural problems in 7-15 year old children living in urban areas” *
We are very fortunate in Richmond with our vast amounts of green open space and equally lucky with the Oftsed rated Outstanding state secondary schools. All of them have incredible outside space.

The school occupies a large acreage in Ham, with playing fields and tennis courts. It is a popular, thriving and well established school. “We see the school as the central resource for learning and support in the local community and continue to strive for excellence in all we do”.
“I am proud to say we were judged as an “Outstanding” school in all categories following our latest Ofsted inspection”. Chris Rhodes Headmaster. Ofsted concluded that Grey Court has “the highest ambition for all pupils. Only the best will do,” and that the school, “offers an exceptional quality of education”
I attended Grey Court and now my son is enjoying this fantastically energetic, sporty and inspiring school.
N&N Insider’s Tip: If your child loves sport, this could be the school for them. A coveted sports scholarship in Year 7, a staggering daily fixtures list and a truly dedicated sports department headed up Mr Mr Willmore keeps Grey Court at the top of the borough sports league tables.

WALDEGRAVE SCHOOL FOR GIRLS
Waldegrave School is a secondary school with academy status in Twickenham. It takes 216 girls per year between the ages of 11 and 16 and has a co-educational sixth form, opened in September 2014.
“We set high standards of behaviour and have high expectations of all of our students. We are proud of the partnership we have with parents to ensure all students reach their full potential and enjoy school. Our examination results are excellent. This success has placed the school on the Sunday Times Parent Power list for many years and in 2016 we were named Comprehensive school of the year” Head teacher, Ms Elizabeth Tongue.
Both of our daughters loved their time at Waldegrave School.
N&N Insider’s Tip: The school has a slightly unusual catchment area with an A & B zones. If you’re thinking of moving to get into the school catchment some parts of Richmond (B Zone) have as much chance of getting in as those closers to the school in the A Zone.
