Just over the bridge in East Twickenham, MORLEY ROAD is a one-way road running from Denton Road to Richmond Road. The majority of houses are solid Victorian semi-detached three and four bedroom houses although there a small number of Edwardian houses at one end. A few thou’ not many have been converted into flats. Although a few houses have off-street parking, the majority still have their pretty front gardens bursting with bushes, flowers and window boxes, which together with the many trees lining the road, keep the whole road very green and pleasant. At the far end by Denton Road there’s an enclave of gorgeous clapboard houses reminiscent of Martha’s Vineyard, very different to the Victorian houses but somehow it just works.
The strong community has endeavoured to keep the road in keeping with its Victorian architecture. Recently the residents paid a small sum each to ensure all the lampposts that were due to be substituted with modern ones were instead replaced with heritage ones.

What the Neighbours Say:
“We love living on Morley Road - it’s really friendly with a great bunch of neighbours. Being so close to the river is a highlight, whether it’s dropping down to the tow path for a walk or a run or getting to cross the river twice a day on our way to and from work. We’re also lucky to have an eclectic range of independent stores on our doorstep such as Charles Harry Pharmacy, Richmond Cycles, the Real Ale Shop and Just Good Frames.” Tanya
“Morley Road has the unique combination of being close to the river whilst being only a short walk to Richmond town centre in one direction and the tranquility of Marble Hill Park in the other. From a children’s perspective it also has great secondary school options”. Julian
